Majors

 

Four Major tournaments are played each year:

 

April – Jones Open        May – Palmer Open

July  – Player Open       August – Nicklaus Open

 

Three divisions split by course playing handicap (Masters, Champions, Legends).

AwardsPlace 1 – 5 (or more),   Low Gross for each Division & FM.

Qualification – At least five (5) rounds of posted scores in LCMGA play in the current calendar year. 

For Jones Open, five (5) rounds of posted scores in LCMGA play since October 1 of prior year.  Any player without 5 rounds in the current year, we will use your GHIN Index from your last posted LCMGA round in the previous year or your current GHIN Index which ever is lower.

Points will be awarded for Places 1-10. 

 

NOTE 1:  The max score on any hole will be 10.  

NOTE 2:  There are no gimme putts.

NOTE 3:  Entry Fee $20

 

Par 3

The Fairways of Canton course will be set up as eighteen par 3s.  

Three divisions split by course playing handicap.

AwardsPlace 1 – 5 (or more),   Low Gross for each Division & FM.

Qualification – At least five (5) rounds of posted scores in LCMGA play in the current calendar year.  

Points will be awarded for Places 1-10. 

 

NOTE 1:  The max score on any hole will be 6 (triple).  Please pick up after 5 shots.   

NOTE 2:  There are no gimme putts.

NOTE 3:  Entry Fee $20

 

League Championship

 

A two day event held in September or October.

Three divisions split by course playing handicap.

AwardsPlace 1 – 5 (two day low net total), Total two day Low Gross for each Division, FM final day.

Qualification – At least ten (10) rounds of LCMGA play in the current calendar year. 

Points will be awarded for Places 1-10. 

NOTE 1:  The max score on any hole will be 10.  

NOTE 2:  There are no gimme putts.

NOTE 3:  Entry Fee $20

NOTE 4: Event will be on a Tuesday and Thursday.  You must play both days.  If you do not play on Tuesday you will NOT be allowed to play on Thursday.

 

Match Play

 

Single elimination Match Play Event starting in April.

Signup will begin March 1 and close March 31.  Play will start the first week of April and continue through August.

The match play number of players will be limited to a number that will allow a uniform bracket – i.e. 48/64 etc.

Brackets will be developed based on playing handicap.  All matches must be be completed before the Laurel Canyon Cup Championship.

Scoring:  Low Net hole by hole. Winner determined by total holes won. (no max score).

Play off low handicap to determine strokes for each hole. If Player A has a handicap of 17 and Player B has a handicap of 27, player B receives 1 stroke on the 10 hardest holes (Golf Genius will handle).

If match is tied after 18 holes, play continues until a hole is won. Ideally, play would continue with hole 1. However, the course may be full. If both players agree, they may play any hole(s) agreed upon.  Match should be completed the same day.

Awards – TBD

Qualification – Same as Jones Open.

Points will be awarded as follows: 

  1st    –  20 pts                   2nd           –  15 pts

 Semi Final – 10 pts       Qtr Final  –  5 pts

Points will be added towards year end Laurel Canyon Cup Championship qualification.

 

Laurel Canyon Cup Championship

 

The Laurel Canyon Cup Championship is a two-day Ryder Cup Format event consisting of two teams.

 

Qualification:  The top 44 point winners for the calendar year. 

Team Captains

Captain Team 1 – The highest point winner. 

Captain Team 2 – The 2nd highest point winner. 

 

Team Selection Process

The Team Captains (via round robin draft) will pick their team from the pool 42 players.  Each team will have a total of 22 players.   Once teams are selected, the captains will decide who plays in  each match play event each day. (i.e. deciding two-somes, four-somes, singles matches, etc)

NOTE:  Current and previous Board members are exempt from round qualification requirements.
