Majors

 

Four Major tournaments are played each year:

 

April – Jones Open        May – Palmer Open

July  – Player Open       September – Nicklaus Open

 

Two divisions Senior (age 55-71) and Super Senior (age 72 and older).

 

AwardsPlace 1 – 5  low net for each Division & one Low Gross.

 

Qualification – At least five (5) rounds of LCMGA play since previous LCMGA League Championship.

 

Points will be awarded for Place 1-8 for year end Laurel Canyon Cup Championship qualification.

 

NOTE 1:  The max score on any hole will be 10.  Please pick up if your are going to get a 10 for pace of play.  

NOTE 2:  There are no gimme putts.

 

League Championship

 

A two day event held in October.

 

Two Divisions, Senior and Super Senior.

 

AwardsPlace 1 – 5  two day low net for each Division & one Low Gross.

 

Qualification – At least ten (10) rounds of LCMGA play since previous LCMGA League Championship.

 

Points will be awarded for Place 1-8 for year end Laurel Canyon Cup Championship qualification.

 

 

Match Play

 

Single elimination Match Play Event starting in April.

 

Signup  will begin on March 13, 2019 and will close on April 12, 2019.

Brackets will be developed via blind draw.  All matches must be be completed before September 20, 2019.

 

Scoring:  Low Net hole by hole. Winner determined by total holes won. (no max score).

Play off low handicap to determine strokes for each hole. If Player A has a handicap of 17 and Player B has a handicap of 27, player B receives 1 stroke on the 10 hardest holes.

If matched is tied after 18 holes, play continues until a hole is won. Ideally, play would continue with hole 1. However, the course may be full. If both players agree, they may play any hole(s) agreed upon. Ideally, the match should be determined the same day.

 

Awards – TBD

 

Qualification – At least five (5) rounds of LCMGA play to qualify.

 

Points will be awarded as follows:   1st-20 pts, 2nd-15 pts,

semi final losers-10 pts, quarter final losers-5 pts.

 

Points will be added towards year end Laurel Canyon Cup Championship qualification.

 

Laurel Canyon Cup Championship

 

The Laurel Canyon Cup Championship is a two-day Ryder Cup Format event consisting of two teams.

 

Qualification:  Your accumulated points in the Four Majors, the Match Play Event and the League Championship will determine qualification.  The top 22 players from each Division (Senior and Super Senior) qualify.  A total of 44 players.

 

Team Captains

Captain Team 1 – The highest point winner from the Senior Division.

Captain Team 2 – The highest point winner from the Super Senior Division.

 

Team Selection Process

The Team Captains (via round robin draft) will pick their team from the pool 42 players.  Each team will have a total of 22 players (11 from each division).  Once teams are selected, the captains will then decide who plays in the match play events each day. (i.e. deciding two-somes, four-somes, singles matches, etc)
